Indy 5 Costume

It’s strange that in all the leaked photos of Harrison in costume, he is always missing his satchel and gun belt. In some he has his whip but that’s it. Anyone else find it odd? Obviously it could be because he just escaped capture. Just seems weird to me that he would just have his whip and nothing else.

I mentioned that a couple weeks agoas well. Harrison looks great but it’s odd that he doesn’t have his gun and satchel. To be fair we’ve only gotten pictures from him on a hill and him crossing a street. Maybe it’s for a specific scenes where he loses them or abandons it. I remember in temple of doom he comes back to the village but without his satchel because the stones burned through it. So maybe there’s a similar case of that in the new movie. With the gun, Im interested in that as well. I could understand maybe losing the gun, but the gun holder too?

I am sure he just doesn’t have it for those scenes.

I just wonder why, considering he’s always with it. Although we barely got any pictures of him in costume so far. It lasted a good 2 weeks of us seeing Harrison in his classic costume and then his professor costume and quiet since the injury. I’m super eager to see set photos of him back lol. Indy 5 is my most highly anticipated movie for next year.

I think they’ve dropped the ball quite a bit by not officially releasing what Harrison looks like in the costume like Spielberg did. They seem to not be concerned whatsoever with security on set or any kind of control over when we see it first. On one hand it’s cool to see so much behind the scenes stuff but on the other, we are left with pretty underwhelming first looks at Indy in costume.

That first KOTCS photo released was supremely impressive.

Yeah I remember the reaction that was received and it was pretty negative a few weeks ago. A lot of it was less faith in the movie, Harrison’s age, and that they wanted his costume to be different. I think an official image wouldve set a better start for the audience, rather than paparazzi leaks.

Given that the official costume shown at D23 has no gunbelt, I'm wagering that Indy doesn't carry a firearm in this movie.

I can guess two reasons: One, it looks like Indy spends much time in modern cities (circa 1969, anyway) so carrying a holstered gun is probably a no-no. You could get away with it in 1930's Egypt or India, but not in the U.S.

Two, I wonder if this is just the influence of George Lucas, who likes to remove the edge from his creations and sanitize them until they're almost unrecognizable. True, Lucas isn't really involved anymore, but even in Crusade Indy wasn't as nearly as ruthless as he had been previously. Case in point: He hadn't shot anyone (and hit them) with his own revolver since Temple of Doom. (Yes, he shoots three Nazis on the tank in Crusade, but that wasn't his gun and he looks surprised at his own success.)

Still, it would make more sense for Indy to have some sort of backup, since he's not as young as he used to be. But I'm also okay if he prefers to outthink his opponents instead of relying on bullets to get his point across. Whatever makes for a better story. :)
